You dare somebody to do something. They decide how likely it is — one in ten, one in five, one in two if they are feeling brave. Then you both name a number in that range at the same time, and if the numbers match, they have to do it.

The whole thing rests on the two numbers being said simultaneously, and that is the one part a room full of people cannot actually enforce. Counting down out loud, somebody always hears the other start to speak and shades their answer — and the accusation of it is half of every round.

Here both numbers are held until they are in and then revealed together. The coincidence is real, nobody has to be trusted, and the argument afterwards is about the dare rather than about the count.

The dares are written by whoever is daring, not drawn from a pack. A pack cannot know that somebody has been avoiding the karaoke machine all evening.

What Are The Odds FAQ

How do you stop people cheating on the countdown?+

There is no countdown. Both numbers are picked privately and revealed together once both are in, so neither of you can react to the other. It is the one thing this version genuinely fixes.

Who decides the odds?+

The person being dared, always. That is the balance of the game — a low number means it probably happens, so the choice is really about how much you want to avoid it.

Are the dares provided?+

No, and deliberately. The funniest dare is always the one that references something that happened twenty minutes ago, and a content pack cannot do that.

What if somebody does not answer?+

The clock runs out and it counts as a miss. A dare that nobody engaged with is not one worth enforcing.

Do you need to drink to play?+

No. There is no drinking mechanic here at all — the stake is the dare itself.
